Robomaster faced the challenge of improving their duct inspection process by leveraging the capabilities of a DJI drone. The existing methods lacked the precision and efficiency needed for thorough inspections. Operators required a mobile application that could provide comprehensive control over the drone, enabling precise navigation in complex duct systems. Additionally, the application needed to manage various drone components, integrate real-time sensor data, and display a live video feed to ensure detailed inspections. The goal was to create a user-friendly interface that would simplify drone operations and enhance inspection accuracy.

The Demski Group developed a sophisticated mobile application for iOS using Swift. This app provided comprehensive control over the DJI drone, allowing operators to navigate complex duct systems and gather crucial inspection data efficiently. Our solution included custom controls for maneuvering the drone’s wheels and treads independently from the head, ensuring precise navigation. We integrated real-time sensor data collection to monitor environmental conditions and drone status, displaying this data within the app to inform operators’ decisions. Additionally, the app enabled a live video feed from the drone’s camera, providing real-time visual feedback. We also built a custom library to facilitate seamless communication between the mobile app and the DJI drone, ensuring reliable data transmission and control signals.
