What is the Portland Sportsman Show?

The Pacific Northwest Sportsmen’s Show, held from February 12–16, 2025, at the Portland Expo Center, is the largest sportsmen’s show west of the Mississippi.

This annual event brings together over 700 exhibitors showcasing the latest in fishing, hunting, and outdoor recreation. Attendees can explore new products, participate in interactive activities, and attend expert-led seminars.

Cool Innovations in Fishing Tech

Catch Zone is shaking things up in the fishing world with their new app. Right now, it’s built in Vue.js, but they’re also making moves to switch over to React Native for an even smoother, faster experience. The app is already out there and growing, offering anglers real-time updates, community insights, and a super user-friendly way to stay connected with everything fishing-related.

We love what Catch Zone is doing, and we’re definitely excited about its potential to change the game for fishing enthusiasts.

What Went Down in Portland

At the show, the team had a great time meeting up with the Catch Zone team and chatting about how tech is transforming the outdoor sports scene. It wasn’t just about checking off event boxes—it was a real chance to see firsthand how innovation is changing the fishing industry.

Richard and Aaron are always interested in attending conferences that aren’t always primarily focused around tech to get an idea of what other industries are doing.

They happen to both love the outdoors so the sportsman show has many interesting things happening. Aaron and Richard attended the show with an open mind and to discover what new innovations are coming in 2025.

The first day was spent browsing the massive convention center and talking to hundreds of business owners about their products and ideas. The second day they spent plenty of time in the fishing section of the convention after connecting with the founders of the Catch Zone app. Naturally, the 2 techies at the convention found great interest in one of the few tech companies and their leaders. After having some long discussions about the future of the Catch Zone app with EJ and Dave, it was time to head home.
